Recognized in Stroke Excellence
After undergoing on-site evaluations and demonstrating compliance with nationally developed standards for stroke care, the hospitals have earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for certification as Primary Stroke Centers. This certification is based on recommendations for primary stroke centers published by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association's statements and guidelines for stroke care.
At Progress West Hospital, patients can receive immediate stroke consultations with neurologists and neurosurgeons. They will determine the appropriate location for care, focusing on returning the patient to the community hospital setting as quickly as possible. Patients have access to emergency stroke care close to home, including consultations with Washington University neurologists.
Receiving immediate treatment is critical in stroke care. Know the warning signs and call 911 immediately if you think you are having a stroke.
