Emergency Pediatric Care
St. Louis Children’s Hospital pediatricians and Progress West Hospital trained pediatric nurses work together to provide fast, thorough and thoughtful care to children while caring for the emotional needs of their families. A pediatrician is available 24/7 in the emergency room.
The emergency room at Progress West Hospital prioritizes pediatric emergencies for more expedited care. It also features bedside registration, private pediatric rooms and a variety of techniques to ensure patients experience as little discomfort as possible during fracture reductions, burn debridement, blood draws or IV starts.
Each patient receives ongoing assessment, treatment and diagnostic evaluation. Stabilized patients may be admitted for further evaluation and treatment, discharged for continued outpatient evaluation, or transferred to St. Louis Children’s Hospital if their medical condition warrants. Throughout the course of patient care, diagnostic services are immediately available through radiology and laboratory services.
